File Setup

LAYERS

All files submitted for profile cutting must be layered properly according to the guidelines below:

CNC ROUTER

Green Cut layer - Cut outside of shape

Blue Cut Layer - Cut inside of shape

Red Carving Layer - Remove material as a pocket

*Label cut depth as inches in layer name

Yellow Engraving Layer - V bit engrave on line

LASER ENGRAVER

Green Cut layer - Cut line of shape

Red Etching Layer - Laser etching area fill

Yellow Engraving Layer - Thin laser engrave on line

FILE TYPES

• .AI - Adobe Illustrator

• .DXF

• .EPS

• .PDF (Outlined Text)

CHECKLIST

• All artwork is vector line art (no photography / bitmap images)

• Layers are labeled appropriately

• Artwork is to final size in inches

• Nested artwork is separated by at least .75” gap

• Max cut area leaves at least .5” border around material

• No double lines

• Check for over cuts or overlapping shapes

• Check for stray lines and points as these will be read by machine and be cut

• All text has been outlined

• All continuous lines are joined, and un-grouped, with no color fills

*Not all cut types are possible on each machine. Unless specified, we will use the machine which will give you the best finish or fastest turnaround for rush orders.
